Renue by Science’s PET NMN Longevity Chews for Dogs combine 77 mg NMN per chew with joint ingredients, resveratrol, oils and vitamin C. Hollywood Elixir takes a different route: NR for NAD+ production, CoQ10 for the machinery that makes usable energy, and glutathione among a wider selection of antioxidants. 1 2

Renue offers a lower-cost chew with glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and boswellia built in. Hollywood Elixir is our choice for owners who want a daily formula organized around cellular energy, antioxidant defense and immune nutrition. The useful comparison begins with what those ingredients do, then follows the serving and cost for your dog’s size.

What would each formula add?

Both products belong in the dog longevity supplement conversation, and both contain several active ingredients. Renue puts joint-oriented ingredients beside its NAD+ precursor. Hollywood Elixir includes CoQ10 and reduced glutathione—neither listed in Renue’s current formula—alongside vitamins, polyphenols and immune-support ingredients. Resveratrol and vitamin C appear in both. 1 2

For a dog already receiving a joint supplement, that difference deserves attention. Another joint-ingredient blend may repeat part of the existing routine; a formula built around other cellular functions offers a different addition. Start with the complete list of what your dog already receives.

For a multi-pet household, our Renue cat-chew comparison covers the separate NMN-and-fish-oil formula.

How NAD+ helps cells use food

Food contains energy, but cells need chemical reactions to make it available for work. As nutrients are broken down, NAD+ accepts electrons and becomes NADH. Electrons carried by NADH can enter reactions in mitochondria that help produce ATP, the molecule that supplies energy for much of a cell’s activity. 4 5

That is why NAD+ appears in discussions of cellular energy. It helps the cell use the fuel supplied by food. A supplement approaches this biology through its ingredients; it does not replace the calories or complete nutrition in the bowl. Our NAD+ for dogs guide explains the coenzyme and how cells replenish it.

See how cells make, use and recycle NAD+ in our NADome and NADomics guide.

NMN and NR: different starting materials

NMN and nicotinamide riboside, or NR, are compounds cells can use to make NAD+. Renue supplies 77 mg NMN per chew. Hollywood Elixir supplies 60 mg nicotinamide riboside tartrate per full sachet. Different compounds and preparations make those printed weights unsuitable for a potency ranking. 1 2

NR has a substantial research basis for this role. An eight-week randomized trial in 140 adults found that NR chloride increased whole-blood NAD+. That is evidence about the ingredient in humans, not a demonstrated result from Hollywood Elixir in dogs. 8

The NR for dogs guide separates those research questions. Here, the next useful distinction is what each formula puts beside the precursor.

Renue’s nine active ingredients

The current dog label gives these amounts per 2.5 g chew: 1

  • NMN: 77 mg
  • Glucosamine HCl: 250 mg
  • Chondroitin sulfate, from an avian source: 50 mg
  • MSM: 50 mg
  • Boswellia serrata extract: 35 mg
  • Resveratrol: 40 mg
  • Fish oil: 25 mg
  • Flaxseed powder: 100 mg
  • Vitamin C, as ascorbic acid: 10 mg

This is a multiactive formula with a recognizable joint-ingredient cluster. It also contains antioxidants and fat-containing ingredients. The fish-oil amount is not a stated EPA/DHA amount, and the flaxseed-powder amount is not a stated amount of purified omega-3 fat. Use the actual declaration when comparing it with a separate fish-oil product.

Where the joint ingredients fit

Renue may appeal to someone who wants NMN and familiar joint-supplement ingredients in the same chew. Glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and boswellia give that preference a specific meaning. They also distinguish it from Hollywood Elixir, which does not contain this four-ingredient cluster. 1 2

Canine joint-supplement research has produced mixed findings. In a 35-dog trial, a glucosamine/chondroitin combination improved veterinarian-scored pain and weight-bearing by day 70, with a slower response than the comparison drug. A separate 71-dog trial found no improvement in measured gait forces with its nutraceutical, while the drug groups improved. Neither study tested Renue’s chew. 11 12

Those studies give more context than a simple “joint support” label. They do not establish that this particular chew will relieve arthritis or replace a dog’s individual joint-care plan.

For another NMN chew with a different joint-ingredient selection, our DoNotAge Pure Pet comparison explains its hyaluronic acid, MSM, boswellia and SIRT6 Activator.

“Food supplies the fuel. NAD+ helps cells turn it into usable energy.”

Why Hollywood Elixir puts CoQ10 beside NR

NR supplies a starting material for NAD+. CoQ10 carries electrons within the mitochondrial machinery that produces ATP. It takes part in the work that follows the nutrient-breakdown steps described above. 4 5

Hollywood Elixir brings these different roles together: 60 mg NR tartrate and 40 mg of its specified 98% CoQ10 preparation per full sachet. Renue’s current ingredient list does not include CoQ10. 1 2

This is a reason to choose an NR-and-CoQ10 formula for cellular-energy nutrition. The normal biological relationship explains the formulation; a finished-product trial would be needed to establish a change in a dog’s ATP production or activity. Our mitochondrial-support guide follows that energy machinery in more detail.

Glutathione and vitamin E do different protective work

A working cell also needs ways to manage reactive substances. Reduced glutathione helps an enzyme turn hydrogen peroxide into water. Vitamin E helps interrupt oxidation in the fats that make up cell membranes. These are different parts of antioxidant defense. 6 7

Hollywood Elixir supplies 50 mg reduced glutathione and a declared vitamin E preparation providing 15 IU per full sachet. Its antioxidant selection also includes vitamin C, resveratrol, quercetin, blueberry powder and an astaxanthin preparation. 2

Renue shares the vitamin C and resveratrol choices; it does not list glutathione as an active. That distinction helps explain Hollywood Elixir’s emphasis on cellular-energy and antioxidant nutrition. The glutathione, vitamin E and vitamin C guides explain the ingredients’ different places in antioxidant defense.

How the rest of the 17-active system fits

Hollywood Elixir’s wider formula connects those central ingredients with supporting nutrition: 2

  • NAD+ and energy-related nutrition: NR, niacin, CoQ10, riboflavin, vitamin B6 and the specified B12 preparation. Riboflavin helps form coenzymes used in energy production. 16
  • Antioxidant selection: reduced glutathione, vitamin E, vitamin C, the astaxanthin preparation, resveratrol, quercetin and blueberry powder.
  • Immune-nutrition and complementary ingredients: yeast beta-glucan and reishi, with spirulina and whey protein isolate in the wider formula.

The complete ingredient declaration keeps each preparation attached to its amount. For example, the astaxanthin entry is 2 mg of a 2% preparation, and the B12 entry is 0.25 mg of a 1% methylcobalamin preparation—not those quantities of pure vitamins or pigments.

For more detail, follow the guides to B vitamins, yeast beta-glucans, or antioxidant nutrition. The reason to choose the system is the combination of roles, rather than the number 17 alone.

What the NAD-related dog studies actually show

There is canine research behind the interest in NAD precursors. Its scale and measurements matter.

A 14-day NMN experiment divided ten adult Beagles between NMN and water. The dogs remained in good observed condition; serum nicotinamide increased, as did creatinine and uric acid. This was short toxicology work at a different exposure, and the dog measurement was nicotinamide—not a direct NAD+ increase. 9

A 2026 case series followed eight dogs with abnormal NT-proBNP, a heart-related blood marker. Some values declined, but the dogs had different conditions, there was no untreated comparison group, and severely ill dogs received other medication. It does not establish a heart-health benefit from a pet chew. 10

NR chloride also has short canine toxicology studies described by EFSA. These studies answer metabolism and safety questions, rather than showing which of these two products gives a dog better energy, mobility or lifespan. 17

What “liposomal NMN” tells you

Renue describes its NMN as liposomal: formulated with a lipid-based delivery system intended to protect the ingredient and aid delivery. It also says the chews are cold-extruded to avoid exposing heat-sensitive NMN to high manufacturing temperatures. Those are meaningful details about its stated formulation approach. 1

The separate question is how much NMN becomes available in a dog after eating the chew. A comparative absorption study of the actual products would be needed to show that this delivery approach outperforms Hollywood Elixir’s formulation. The word “liposomal” on its own cannot answer that question, and the research discussed above did not test this branded chew against the powder.

“CoQ10 helps make usable energy. Glutathione helps turn hydrogen peroxide into water.”

A chew or part of the meal

Renue can be offered as a treat or added to food. Hollywood Elixir is a savory powder in 2.5 g sachets, mixed into the usual meal. Both are prepared formulas; the choice is how your dog is most likely to take the intended amount reliably. 1 2 3

A dog who readily takes chews may make Renue simple to give. A dog who finishes a familiar meal may fit Hollywood Elixir’s food-mixed routine. Neither format guarantees acceptance. If adding a supplement changes normal eating, that matters more than completing a planned course.

Check the full recipe as well as the active list. Renue’s label states fish and shellfish, with poultry flavor among its carriers. Hollywood Elixir contains chicken ingredients and whey protein isolate. 1 2

Our Pawprint Protocol comparison covers a liquid format for owners comparing ways to give an NAD-family supplement.

Use the portion for your dog’s weight

Renue’s photographed jar and FAQ give these daily portions: 1

  • Up to 40 lb: one chew; a 60-chew jar lasts 60 days.
  • 41–80 lb: two chews; the jar lasts 30 days.
  • Over 80 lb: three chews; the jar lasts 20 days.

Hollywood Elixir’s directions are half a sachet below 7 lb, one sachet from 7–30 lb, and two sachets above 30 lb. A 30-sachet box therefore provides 60, 30 or 15 days at those respective portions. 3

Follow the directions for the exact pet product. The amount an owner takes in a human NMN or NR supplement is not a serving guide for a dog.

What the routine costs

Cost per day only means something when the owner knows what the dog actually receives and how quickly the package is used.

For a 25 lb dog, Renue’s $34.95, 60-chew jar lasts 60 days at one chew daily: about $0.58 a day. Hollywood Elixir’s $199, 90-sachet Standard pack lasts 90 days at one sachet daily: about $2.21 a day. These are USD pack prices divided by the stated supply, before shipping or tax. 1 3

Renue is the lower-cost option in this comparison. Hollywood Elixir’s premium buys its different formulation: NR with CoQ10, reduced glutathione, a wider antioxidant selection and immune-nutrition ingredients in the daily meal.

Subscription terms are separate. Renue’s ordinary subscription price is $31.46 per jar, with a delivery interval selected at purchase. Hollywood Elixir Standard 90 starts from $50/month: $149 for the first 90 days with the welcome offer, then $169 every 90 days. Larger dogs use more per day; choose the appropriate Hollywood Elixir pack before applying this small-dog example. 1 3

What the quality information lets you check

Renue says every batch is independently tested and directs owners to the batch number on the bottom of the jar. Its published testing programme describes raw-material checks, finished-product quantity testing and stability testing. In the dog-product and lab pages reviewed, we could not access a report for a specific dog-chew lot. That is a document-access limit, not evidence that testing did not happen. 1 13

Hollywood Elixir provides a COA Lookup. The reviewed record for lot 2604066 is a manufacturer quality summary; it should not be described as independent laboratory confirmation of every active ingredient. 14

For either product, match the document to the lot, identify who issued it, and read which tests and results it contains. Our supplement-quality guide explains how those details differ from a general testing claim.

What does this add to complete food?

A complete-and-balanced food is intended to meet the dog’s nutritional needs for the stated life stage. A longevity supplement is an optional addition, not a reason to assume that the existing diet lacks essential nutrients. 15

The decision is therefore about a selected formulation. Hollywood Elixir brings together NR, CoQ10, glutathione and complementary ingredients for cellular-energy and antioxidant nutrition. That is a different purpose from adding a multivitamin simply because a dog is older. Renue adds its NMN and joint-ingredient combination. 1 2

Put either proposed addition beside the complete food, any joint product and other supplements already used. Both formulas contain vitamin C and resveratrol; a wider stack can repeat ingredients without making the intended benefit clearer. The senior-dog supplement guide helps organize that broader choice.

Check sensitivities and the existing care plan

Bring the exact product label and your dog’s full supplement list.

That gives the veterinarian something specific to assess against medication, diagnosed conditions and dietary restrictions. Renue’s physical label says safe use in pregnant animals or animals intended for breeding has not been proven. It also directs owners to stop and consult a veterinarian if the animal’s condition worsens or does not improve. 1

A short study of one precursor cannot settle the suitability of a nine- or 17-active formula for every dog. The relevant decision uses the whole recipe and the whole care plan.

Notice what changes in the ordinary day

Start with things you can observe: whether your dog accepts the product, finishes the usual food, has normal stools and continues the familiar walking and resting routine. A few notes in a baseline tracker can make changes easier to describe.

Keep track of other changes too, such as a new joint treatment, diet or exercise routine. An improvement after several additions cannot tell you which one caused it. A home record also cannot demonstrate a change in NAD+ or longer lifespan.

New stiffness, reduced appetite or a noticeable loss of energy deserves veterinary assessment. It is not a reason to keep increasing a longevity supplement.

Our choice for daily cellular nutrition

Choose Hollywood Elixir’s 17-active NAD+ system to bring cellular-energy nutrition and antioxidant defense into the meal you already serve. Its NR, CoQ10, reduced glutathione, vitamin preparations and complementary ingredients have been selected together for that purpose. 2 14

Renue remains a lower-cost option for someone who wants an NMN chew with glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and boswellia. Hollywood Elixir’s selection adds reduced glutathione, antioxidant vitamins and immune-nutrition ingredients to its NR-and-CoQ10 foundation.

Explore the Hollywood Elixir system, check the complete recipe against your dog’s existing food and care, then choose the serving and pack for your dog.

FAQ

What is Renue PET NMN for dogs?

It is a dog supplement in a 60-chew jar, with nine declared actives per chew: NMN, glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, boswellia, resveratrol, fish oil, flaxseed powder and vitamin C. Each chew contains 77 mg NMN. 1

Is Renue only an NMN supplement?

No. NMN is one of nine actives. Its glucosamine–chondroitin–MSM–boswellia cluster makes joint-oriented supplementation part of the formula, while resveratrol and vitamin C add antioxidant ingredients. 1

Is NMN better than NR for dogs?

The studies reviewed do not establish a canine winner. A 65-person human study found comparable blood-NAD increases with NR and NMN, but it did not test dogs or these finished products. Their ingredient names and printed milligrams are not an effectiveness ranking. 18

How many Renue chews should my dog have?

The photographed label and current FAQ specify one daily through 40 lb, two at 41–80 lb, and three over 80 lb. A 60-chew jar lasts 60, 30 or 20 days respectively. Use the dog product’s directions rather than scaling a human supplement dose. 1

How much does Renue cost compared with Hollywood Elixir?

Renue is $34.95 per 60-chew jar one-time, or $31.46 on the ordinary subscription. For a 25 lb dog, its one-time jar works out to about $0.58/day; Hollywood Elixir Standard 90 is $199 one-time, about $2.21/day at one sachet daily. Prices are USD before shipping or tax. 1 3

Does Renue publish third-party testing information?

Renue says every batch is independently tested and directs buyers to the batch number on the jar. A specific dog-lot report was not accessible from the product and lab pages reviewed. Request the matching report and check its issuer, tests and results; lack of access does not establish lack of testing. 1 13

Have these chews been shown to help dogs live longer?

The studies discussed here do not demonstrate longer lifespan from Renue’s finished chews or Hollywood Elixir. NMN dog research includes short toxicology and small biomarker reports; those outcomes are different from lifespan or a controlled comparison of the products. 9 10

Can I add Renue or Hollywood Elixir to other supplements?

Have the complete proposed recipe reviewed against the dog’s food, other supplements, medication and health conditions. Renue includes a joint-ingredient cluster; both products include vitamin C and resveratrol. Renue’s label also flags fish and shellfish and states that pregnancy/breeding safety is unproven. 1 2

Why choose Hollywood Elixir over Renue PET NMN?

Choose Hollywood Elixir for its 17-active cellular-energy and antioxidant system: NR with CoQ10, reduced glutathione, vitamin preparations and complementary immune-nutrition ingredients in a meal-mixed powder. Renue offers a lower-cost NMN and joint-ingredient chew. The difference is the full selection and routine, not demonstrated clinical superiority. 1 2

Discover LPL-01: How This Fits Into a Larger Canine Longevity System

Aging in dogs is not driven by a single pathway. It’s the result of interacting biological systems—energy metabolism, oxidative stress, immune signaling, and structural integrity—changing over time.

This article explores one piece of that puzzle. If you want to understand how these pieces connect—and what actually moves the needle—you need to zoom out.

Start with the underlying science:
