How NAD+ and CoQ10 help cells use food

Food supplies the fuel; cells turn it into a form they can use. As nutrients are broken down, NAD+ accepts electrons and becomes NADH. Those electrons can feed reactions in mitochondria that make ATP, the molecule that powers much of a cell's work. CoQ10 carries electrons along that energy-producing chain. 4 5

That explains why an NAD-family ingredient and CoQ10 can belong in the same formula. They relate to different steps in the cell's energy machinery, and both PawPrint and Hollywood Elixir contain that pairing. The food still supplies the calories. PawPrint's ingredient amounts are per two droppers

The current Product Facts panel defines a serving as 2 mL, or two full droppers. That amount contains:

  • NAD+: 100 mg
  • NMN: 30 mg
  • Resveratrol: 5 mg
  • CoQ10: 5 mg

It also lists 10 calories, 2 g sugar and 2 g carbohydrate per 2 mL. Other ingredients are vegetable glycerin, purified water, rice syrup, and beef and apple flavouring. 1

One full dropper is 1 mL, so it contains half those amounts. This matters whenever you compare a daily portion with the panel: a dog receiving one dropper is not receiving the full 100 mg NAD+ and 30 mg NMN shown above. Use the weight-based directions as well as the Product Facts panel.

What Hollywood Elixir adds around NR

Per full 2.5 g sachet, Hollywood Elixir declares 60 mg NR tartrate, 40 mg of its 98% CoQ10 preparation, 50 mg reduced glutathione, 10 mg vitamin C, a vitamin E preparation providing 15 IU, and 15 mg of its 98% resveratrol extract, among its 17 actives. 2

PawPrint also includes CoQ10 and resveratrol. Hollywood Elixir's additional choices include glutathione and vitamins C and E, alongside other B vitamins and ingredients selected for immune nutrition. This extends the formula beyond the four actives in PawPrint's liquid.

The listed quantities describe the declared ingredients and preparations. They are not a direct potency score: 60 mg NR tartrate is not interchangeable with 30 mg NMN or 100 mg NAD+. Use amounts to understand what is being purchased and to spot overlap.

Different antioxidants do different protective work

A working cell needs ways to manage reactive substances. Reduced glutathione helps an enzyme turn hydrogen peroxide into water. Hydrogen peroxide is a reactive compound that cells need to keep under control. Vitamin E helps protect the fats in cell membranes from oxidation, interrupting a chain reaction that can damage those fats. Vitamin C can help regenerate vitamin E after that work. 6 7

These are different jobs within antioxidant defense. Calling every ingredient an “antioxidant” can hide that distinction. Hollywood Elixir includes glutathione and vitamins C and E alongside its NR, CoQ10 and resveratrol: a deliberate selection for cellular-energy nutrition and cellular protection. The normal functions explain the formulation; they do not establish a measured improvement in dogs given the finished product.

The supporting ingredients in the 17-active system

Energy metabolism also uses helper molecules made from vitamins. Riboflavin, or vitamin B2, supplies the FMN and FAD coenzymes involved in that work. Hollywood Elixir includes riboflavin together with niacin, vitamin B6 and a specified vitamin B12 preparation. 2 16

Its immune-nutrition selection includes yeast beta-glucans, reishi and spirulina. Quercetin, blueberry powder and an astaxanthin preparation add to the antioxidant ingredient selection, while whey protein isolate is another declared ingredient. Together, these choices extend the formula into antioxidant and immune nutrition around NR and CoQ10. 2

What does this add to complete dog food?

A food labelled complete and balanced is intended to supply the essential nutrition for the life stage stated on its label. Choosing an aging supplement does not mean that food has stopped doing its job. 15

The purchase here is an optional, targeted formulation alongside the diet. PawPrint adds its NAD+/NMN, CoQ10 and resveratrol combination. Hollywood Elixir assembles NR with CoQ10, glutathione and a wider selection of antioxidant and supporting nutrients. Its vitamins are part of that formulation; their presence does not demonstrate that your dog is deficient. 1 2

This is a useful distinction when deciding what to buy. You can keep the complete food your dog does well on while choosing Hollywood Elixir for the particular cellular-energy and antioxidant ingredients it brings together. There is no need to add a separate bottle for every ingredient that interests you.

Does NAD+, NMN or NR tell you which works better?

NAD+ is the coenzyme; NMN and NR are materials cells can use to make it. The names describe different molecules, not a ranking of finished dog supplements. NR has substantial human research, including an eight-week trial in 140 adults that found increased whole-blood NAD+. That supports interest in the ingredient, not a promise of the same result from an NR-tartrate pet formula. 4 8

There is canine work, too. A 14-day NMN study in ten Beagles measured increased serum nicotinamide, a related metabolite, alongside changes in kidney-related blood markers. It did not establish improved vitality or long-term safety. EFSA's assessment describes short NR-chloride studies in Beagles focused on metabolism and toxicology, rather than healthy-aging benefits. Neither answers which of these two products works better for a dog. 9 17

Both include CoQ10; what does its dog research show?

CoQ10's normal role in energy production helps explain its inclusion in both formulas. Published dog research also gives it a more specific research history, although the setting matters.

A randomized, blinded three-month study compared water-soluble CoQ10 with placebo in 43 dogs with mitral valve disease, alongside their cardiac care; 12 healthy dogs provided a separate reference group. Supplementation raised plasma CoQ10. Some inflammatory-cell measures improved in dogs with heart failure, but the authors did not confirm benefits in the measured oxidative-stress markers, cardiac biomarkers or echocardiographic measures. 11

That is useful ingredient research, not a trial of either product here. It does not show that Hollywood Elixir's larger declared CoQ10 amount produces better results. Both formulas also include resveratrol, so its presence alone cannot decide between them. Hollywood Elixir's distinct case includes the additional glutathione, antioxidant vitamins and supporting ingredients. 1 2

Liquid or powder at the daily meal

PawPrint gives you a dropper to measure the liquid portion. Hollywood Elixir gives you sachets, with a half, whole or double portion according to weight. A liquid may suit a dog or household that prefers drops; powder may suit a routine built around mixing the serving into food. Neither format wins universally. 1 3

Consider what happens at the bowl: does your dog accept the flavour, and finish the portion carrying the supplement? The convenient format is the one you can measure and give consistently. Being liquid does not, by itself, establish better absorption than a powder; that would require a comparison of the actual formulations.

Use the current serving for your dog's weight

PawPrint's current directions assign one, two, three or four full droppers daily across its small, medium, large and giant size bands:

  • Under 10 kg, shown as under 22 lb: 1 mL
  • 10–25 kg, shown as 22–55 lb: 2 mL
  • 25–40 kg, shown as 55–88 lb: 3 mL
  • 40 kg and above, shown as 88 lb and above: 4 mL

A 60 mL bottle therefore supplies about 60, 30, 20 or 15 days, respectively. The printed bands meet at their boundaries; use the bottle's directions and confirm the portion if your dog is exactly at one. 1

Hollywood Elixir's current product guide gives half a sachet below 7 lb, one at 7–30 lb and two above 30 lb. These are product-specific directions. A portion from one product or a human supplement cannot be transferred to the other. 3

For a 25-pound dog: $189 versus $199 for 90 days

A 25-pound dog receives 2 mL PawPrint daily under the current directions. One 60 mL bottle lasts 30 days; the three-bottle, $189 one-time bundle provides the full 90 days. That is $2.10 per day. 1

Why another dog's price comparison can look different

The two products increase their portions at different weights. At 50 lb, PawPrint still uses 2 mL daily, so the same $189 three-bottle pack covers 90 days. Hollywood Elixir uses two sachets daily, making its Double 180 pack $379 for 90 days. The difference is much larger than in the 25-pound example. 1 3

At 15 lb, PawPrint uses 1 mL daily. Buying two single bottles at $69 each costs $138 and supplies 90 days with 30 mL left over. Hollywood Elixir still uses one sachet daily, so its Standard 90 remains $199. The leftover liquid matters when you plan the next purchase. 1 3

Start with your dog's current weight, then compare the actual packages needed. A bottle price and a box price are useful only after you know how long each lasts.

Make the subscription fit the supply

Look for the batch record and what it measures

PawPrint describes veterinary review and cGMP manufacturing. We did not find a linked, lot-specific certificate in the product and science pages inspected. That is an access limitation, not evidence that the product is untested. A buyer can ask for the report matching the bottle's lot and see who issued it and what was measured. 1

Hollywood Elixir provides a COA lookup. The reviewed record for lot 2604066 is a manufacturer-issued quality summary with different test and method entries. Match the record to your pack, then read each entry for what it measures and how it was checked. 14

Batch information helps you inspect the product you are buying. It answers a different question from a clinical study of a dog's health.

The liquid base and the powder's additional ingredients can matter as much as the headline actives. PawPrint lists rice syrup, glycerin and beef/apple flavouring; its 2 mL panel includes 10 calories and 2 g sugar. Hollywood Elixir includes whey protein isolate, chicken flavour and chicken liver powder. Check these against any diet restrictions already established for your dog. 1 2

Put the exact label alongside the food, medicines and supplements your dog already receives. Both products contain CoQ10 and resveratrol; combining them adds those ingredients together. Hollywood Elixir's vitamins and other actives may also overlap with a multivitamin or antioxidant product. Keep a nutritional choice separate from new symptoms

An owner may begin this search because an older dog seems less engaged, has started shaking or gets confused around the house. Those changes deserve a veterinary assessment. Pain and other illness can resemble cognitive aging; choosing a supplement does not identify the cause. 19

For a nutritional addition within an established care plan, ordinary observations still help: whether your dog eats the portion, tolerates it and accepts the routine. Is NR better than NMN for dogs?

The studies reviewed here do not show that NR gives dogs better health outcomes than NMN. In a 2026 study of 65 adults, NR and NMN comparably increased circulating NAD+ over 14 days, but that is a human result. Dog NMN studies and NR toxicology work answer narrower questions, and raw milligrams of different compounds are not equivalent. 9 17 18

Do ingredient studies prove PawPrint improves senior-dog health?

The product’s cited ingredient studies are not trials of the finished PawPrint formula. The CoQ10 trial discussed above, for example, used another formulation. Newer NMN research also includes a 2026 uncontrolled case series of eight dogs with varied health problems and concurrent care; it cannot establish that PawPrint prevents heart disease or produces the same biomarker response. 1 10 11

Is a liquid automatically better absorbed than a powder?

No. Liquid and powder describe delivery formats. Establishing better absorption would require data on the actual formulations under a suitable comparison. Choose a format your dog accepts and that you can measure and give consistently; the format alone is not an absorption score.

Does PawPrint publish a batch COA?
