NR is a building block the body can use to make NAD+. Cells use NAD+ in energy metabolism and other processes. Both formulas therefore have a genuine NAD+ precursor ingredient. 3

Why CoQ10 belongs alongside NAD+ nutrition

Normal cellular activity produces reactive oxygen molecules. Some have useful signaling roles, but their reactivity can also damage cells. Antioxidant defenses help by converting them into less reactive products. 5

What lutein research in dogs has shown

Over 12 weeks, researchers measured cellular immune responses and antibody-related outcomes, with further follow-up after antigen challenges. Several measures increased, including selected cellular responses and IgG, while others did not change. 7

This gives lutein a more specific research basis than a general promise to boost immunity. It was an ingredient study measuring immune responses, however, rather than a trial of NaturVet's finished chew or evidence that it prevents infections. An owner who wants lutein in a broader daily recipe has a real reason to consider NaturVet without turning those laboratory measures into a promise about future illness.

Milk thistle extract is not the same as a specified silybin dose

Milk thistle contains a mixture of compounds called silymarin; silybin is one component. A declaration of 300 mg milk thistle extract does not tell you that the product contains 300 mg silybin. Preparation identity matters when comparing it with a product selected for liver care. 1 8

A 2021 canine paper illustrates the distinction. One experiment involved 18 healthy dogs receiving pure silybin, a specified multi-ingredient product called Hepaxan, or control treatment. A separate study followed 15 dogs with liver disorders before and after Hepaxan use, without an untreated comparison group. The investigators reported changes in liver-related biochemical markers. Those particular preparations and study designs cannot be treated as a NaturVet result. 8

An owner can prefer NaturVet because its complete recipe includes milk thistle. If the dog already has a prescribed liver-care preparation, keep that plan intact until the clinician confirms an appropriate change. The daily portion supplies the complete recipe together. Use the full label when matching HE to the dog’s food and existing supplements, including ingredients such as beta glucan that sit beyond the energy and glutathione discussion.

NaturVet identifies EPA and DHA separately

NaturVet's omega-3 declaration is a useful strength. Per two chews, its 175 mg total omega-3 fatty acids includes 24 mg EPA and 13 mg DHA. The label identifies flaxseed and pollock oil as sources. Those separate amounts give an owner more information than a fish-oil weight alone. 1

Use the dog's daily chew count when comparing that contribution with a separate omega-3 product. One chew supplies half the two-chew figures; a larger weight band supplies more. A clinician-selected EPA/DHA routine should be compared using its actual fatty-acid amounts and purpose.

HE does not list a fish-oil or EPA/DHA ingredient. Its energy and antioxidant formula is therefore a different purchase from continuing that part of NaturVet's recipe. Keep a separately needed omega-3 plan distinct from the choice between these longevity products.

Vitamins and minerals belong in the whole-diet picture

NaturVet includes zinc, selenium and vitamins C, D and E. HE also includes vitamin C, vitamin E and several B vitamins. These additions enter a routine that already includes food and may include other supplements. 1 2

NaturVet describes intended support for immunity, longevity, brain, vision, liver and skin health. The ingredient research helps explain that positioning: it includes actual canine lutein immune-response work and preparation-specific milk-thistle research. 1 7 8
