PetDomain identifies itself as the renamed ThorneVet business. Its history says the animal-health operation became independent from Thorne Research in 2019. Owners may therefore recognize the product from an older jar, a veterinary recommendation or a saved ThorneVet link. 3

The current manufacturer listing identifies the soft chew as PD985-SC and the separate powder as PD985-P. Use the current product panel for the purchase in front of you. The manufacturer now declares NR tartrate, and its current powder scoop is 2 cc / 1.25 g. Older retailer text and historical PDFs are not a reason to substitute an earlier specification. 1 2

The seven active ingredients in each soft chew

Per one 3 g chew, the current PetDomain panel declares: 1

  • Nicotinamide riboside tartrate: 100 mg.

That quantitative disclosure is useful. The formula does not place the actives behind an unnamed proprietary blend, so an owner can bring the actual ingredients and amounts into a nutrition discussion.

Keep the preparation names attached to the numbers. A phytosome amount describes a formulated botanical material, and the astaxanthin entry specifies a biomass source. The panel is a declaration of the recipe, not a measurement of what the finished chew will do for a particular dog.

NR supplies a building block for NAD+

Nicotinamide riboside, or NR, is a precursor the body can use to make NAD+. It is not the same molecule as NAD+ itself. The distinction matters when a product is described generally as an “NAD supplement.” 5

NAD+ helps cells use energy from food. During nutrient breakdown it accepts electrons and becomes NADH, which can supply electrons to mitochondrial machinery involved in producing ATP. ATP carries energy for cellular work. The dog still obtains that energy from food; NR is supplied for the chemistry involved in handling it. 6

Why taurine attracts longevity interest

Taurine is the largest declared active amount in Longevity Complex. It also has a place in aging research: a 2023 study reported longer lifespan in worms and mice and improvements in healthspan measures in monkeys after supplementation. Those were experimental findings in the studied species, not a trial of PetDomain in dogs. 7

The broader science also needs context. A 2025 study found circulating taurine rose or remained unchanged with age across several human, monkey and mouse cohorts. Its authors concluded that changes in taurine are not a universal feature of aging. That finding concerns taurine as an aging marker; it does not show that supplementation can never have a useful role. 8

The purchase implication is straightforward: PetDomain includes a named nutrient of research interest, but an older dog's age does not by itself establish taurine deficiency. A specific taurine need should remain tied to that dog's nutrition and care.

The antioxidant preparations deserve a close read

Alongside taurine and NR, PetDomain supplies quercetin, curcumin, decaffeinated green tea, trans-resveratrol and an astaxanthin preparation. These are a substantial part of the product's identity, rather than incidental extras around the precursor. 1

Its quercetin, curcumin and green tea are phytosome preparations that include sunflower-derived phospholipids. The printed 75 mg or 50 mg amounts refer to those preparations; they should not be recast as the same weight of a pure isolated compound. The branded names help identify the materials being used.

That is a fair reason to consider this recipe when those particular ingredients matter to you. It does not establish that the full chew has superior absorption in dogs, clears aging cells or reproduces the effects of an ingredient study. Hollywood Elixir also contains antioxidants, with a different selection and different specified forms. 4

What the relevant dog study does—and does not—show

There is research on NAD-precursor combinations in senior dogs. A 2024 study enrolled 70 dogs, with 59 contributing to the primary three-month analysis, to test a particular NAD-precursor and senolytic regimen against placebo. It had placebo, low-dose and full-dose groups. 9

At three months, owner-rated cognitive scores differed significantly across the groups, with the greatest improvement in the full-dose group. Activity monitors and the research cognitive tests did not show significant group differences. The study tested that combination, not PetDomain Longevity Complex or Hollywood Elixir, and it did not isolate NR's contribution.

Those distinctions leave room for interest in nutritional support without turning a related study into a product promise. Neither finished formula has established a canine lifespan or clinical advantage in the evidence reviewed here. A supplement should also not stand in for assessment of new cognitive, mobility or appetite changes.

Weight and frequency determine the chew count

PetDomain's current dog directions are one soft chew per 25 lb of body weight, one to two times daily. The frequency range matters as much as the weight ratio. 1

  • 25 lb dog: one chew per administration. At once-daily use, 90 chews last 90 days; at twice-daily use, 45 days.
  • 75 lb dog: three chews per administration. At once-daily use, the jar lasts 30 days; at twice-daily use, 15 days.

Confirm the appropriate frequency for the dog's plan. The panel does not give a rounding rule for a dog whose weight is not a multiple of 25 lb, so this review does not invent one.

A 90-count jar is therefore not automatically a 90-day supply. Write down the actual chews per day before deciding how often to reorder or comparing another product's price.

The powder is a separate option

PetDomain also sells a 90-scoop, 112.5 g powder at a current one-time price of $74. Its full scoop is 2 cc / 1.25 g, and the current panel declares the same seven active amounts as one 3 g chew. The dog directions use one scoop per 25 lb, one to two times daily. 2

The inactive recipe differs: the powder lists flaxseed and silicon dioxide. It may suit an owner who prefers adding a supplement to food, while the chew offers another way to administer the recipe.

Keep the format clear when shopping or reading reviews. Do not transfer the chew's carriers to the powder, use an older scoop size, or compare the $74 powder price with a calculation based on $77 chew jars. The main cost comparison in this review uses the soft chew.

Read the whole chew recipe

The inactive panel matters for fit, too. PetDomain lists Arabic gum, buffered white distilled vinegar, chickpea flour, citric acid, coconut glycerin, coconut oil, guar gum, vegan bacon flavor, natural vegetarian flavor, rosemary extract, sunflower lecithin, sunflower oil, tapioca starch and water. 1

These ingredients help form and flavor the chew. “Bacon flavor” is identified as vegan on this panel; it should not be described as pork simply from the flavor name. Equally, a plant-derived carrier list is not a guarantee that the product fits every restricted diet.

An individual dog's willingness to eat the chew is also separate from its formula. Consider the full recipe and actual daily count, especially when several chews would be given each day. The powder remains an alternative format, not an automatic solution for every household.

The current manufacturer page contains 12 owner reviews. Their comments include palatability, consistency of use, cost, perceived changes in energy and hopes for long-term health. One reviewer values the product's acceptability while explicitly recognizing that its longevity effect cannot be judged from the experience. 1

That is useful context for a review of a daily supplement. An owner can learn which practical questions to ask before purchasing: will the dog take it, can the schedule be maintained, and does the recurring cost fit?

These brand-hosted experiences do not establish cause and effect or predict another dog's response. Some describe other products used alongside the supplement. A favorable story is therefore not evidence that this particular chew produced a measured anti-aging result, just as an individual food refusal would not prove that no dog accepts it.

PetDomain says it has been an NASC member since 2002, participates in on-site quality audits every two years and places the Quality Seal on qualifying products. Its current Longevity Complex label images display the seal. Those are meaningful quality signals when kept within their stated scope. 3 1

A company audit and a report for the jar's production lot answer different questions. This public inspection did not establish a lot-specific report for the current soft chew. It does not follow that the product is untested.

If a batch report is important to your purchase, request the one matching the jar and read its product identity, test methods and results. Ingredient disclosure, manufacturing controls and clinical research are useful for different reasons; one should not be used as a substitute for all three.

Why we prefer Hollywood Elixir’s nutritional design

PetDomain already supplies NR and antioxidants. Hollywood Elixir's additional case begins with CoQ10 and reduced glutathione, which have different jobs in cellular biology. 1 4

CoQ10 carries electrons within the machinery involved in producing ATP. HE declares 40 mg of a 98% CoQ10 preparation per full sachet alongside its NR ingredient. That brings an NAD+ building block and an ingredient used in energy production into the same formula. 6

Reduced glutathione participates in antioxidant reactions. Glutathione peroxidase, for example, uses it while converting hydrogen peroxide to water. HE declares 50 mg of reduced glutathione per full sachet. 10

For the daily healthy-aging purchase, we value supplying ingredients associated with both usable energy production and antioxidant defense. HE includes that combination as part of its complete recipe; the owner does not have to make the NR amount the whole purchasing decision.

What the complete Hollywood Elixir formula includes

Hollywood Elixir is a 17-active healthy-aging system. In addition to NR tartrate, CoQ10 and reduced glutathione, it includes niacin, B2, B6 and a B12 preparation; vitamins C and E, resveratrol, quercetin and an astaxanthin preparation; beta glucan, reishi, spirulina, blueberry and whey protein isolate. It does not contain taurine, curcumin or green tea. 4

The full ingredient panel preserves the preparation details: astaxanthin at 2%, the B12 material at 1% and reishi standardized to 35% polysaccharides. Its 250 mg whey isolate entry is part of the formula, not a meaningful replacement for dietary protein. Chicken flavor, chicken liver powder and the milk-derived whey also matter when reviewing a restricted diet.

Adult dogs use half a full sachet daily below 7 lb, one at 7–30 lb and two above 30 lb. All per-sachet amounts refer to a full 2.5 g sachet. HE also provides a COA lookup; the inspected lot 2604066 record is a manufacturer quality summary using several methods, not proof that every active was independently assayed. 11 12

The real 90-day cost for two dog sizes

The examples use October 5, 2026 one-time USD prices: PetDomain's 90-chew jar at $77, HE Standard 90 at $199 and HE Double 180 at $379. Taxes, shipping, subscriptions and promotions are excluded. 1 11

  • 25 lb dog: PetDomain requires one jar at once-daily use, $77, or two at twice-daily use, $154. HE uses one sachet daily from Standard 90, $199 for the same period.
  • 75 lb dog: PetDomain requires three jars at once-daily use, $231, or six at twice-daily use, $462. HE uses two sachets daily from Double 180, $379 for the period.

PetDomain costs less at both frequencies in the smaller-dog example. For the larger dog, HE costs less than twice-daily PetDomain and more than once-daily PetDomain. Do not select a frequency simply to obtain the cheaper comparison.

These costs buy different formulas, not matched clinical doses. The HE purchase includes its CoQ10, glutathione, B vitamins and wider antioxidant selection. Its value should be judged against that actual composition and the dog's daily portion.

Cautions belong to the current package and routine

The current PetDomain online panels inspected here show ingredients and directions, rather than a complete caution panel. Read the physical package before use and review the whole formula with the veterinarian when medications, a medical condition or a therapeutic diet are involved.

A specific nutrient prescribed for a medical or dietary need is a separate consideration that must remain covered when changing products.

For optional daily healthy-aging nutrition, we prefer HE's full selection of ingredients for cellular energy production and antioxidant defense. That choice should still be considered alongside the dog's complete food and existing supplements.

Using both formulas by default would add two NR sources and overlapping antioxidants. Their separate serving instructions do not create a combined regimen. Decide which full recipe serves the purchase you intend to make, while keeping prescribed care intact.
