Cat Age Calculator
The La Petite Labs cat age calculator converts your cat’s real age into an approximate human-year equivalent and pairs it with a clear life-stage breakdown. Enter your cat’s age in years and months — or their date of birth — and the estimate appears instantly. It’s a simple way to think less about a number and more about what your cat needs at this point in their life.
Cat Years to Human Years: How the Conversion Works
Cats mature quickly in their first two years and then age at a steadier pace. The widely used approximation:
- The first year of a cat’s life is roughly 15 human years.
- By the end of the second year, a cat is roughly 24 human years old.
- After year two, each additional cat year is roughly 4 human years.
This is an estimate. Cats are individuals — genetics, environment, and care all shape how they age — so treat the number as a frame, not a fact.
When Is a Cat Considered a Senior?
Cats are generally considered senior around age 11. Many veterinarians use 10 as a soft threshold to begin paying closer attention to mobility, hydration, and metabolic shifts. By age 15, cats are often described as advanced senior or geriatric.
How Old Is a Senior Cat?
A 10-year-old cat is roughly 56 in human years. A 13-year-old cat is roughly 68. A 15-year-old cat is roughly 76. These numbers are approximations, but they help frame what your cat is likely experiencing internally — slower recovery, shifting energy, and more interest in calm than chase.
What Age Is Middle Age for a Cat?
AAHA/AAFP defines mature adulthood in cats as ages 7–10. Age categories guide preventive care and monitoring; age alone does not establish a need for a longevity supplement.

How to Support Your Cat Through Each Life Stage
Appropriate nutrition, activity, dental care, and regular veterinary assessment matter throughout a cat’s life. AAHA/AAFP defines young adulthood as ages 1–6, mature adulthood as 7–10, and senior cats as older than 10. This tool adds an advanced-senior display label from age 15. Adapt care to the individual cat’s health and needs.
This is the role Hollywood Elixir was designed to play: a daily longevity system formulated to support healthy aging from the inside out.
FAQ
How accurate is a cat age calculator?
Cat age calculators are useful approximations, not clinical measurements. They reflect typical feline aging curves, but every cat is an individual. Use the result as a frame for life stage and care.
Do indoor and outdoor cats age differently?
Lifestyle can influence longevity, but the underlying biological age curve is similar. Indoor cats tend to live longer because they encounter fewer external risks, not because their cells age more slowly.
At what age is a cat considered old?
The AAHA/AAFP life-stage guidelines define senior cats as older than 10 years. Individual needs vary; age categories guide care rather than diagnose health. This tool uses an additional advanced-senior label from age 15.
When should I start supporting healthy aging in my cat?
Healthy care begins at every life stage: appropriate nutrition, activity, dental care, and regular veterinary assessment. AAHA/AAFP defines mature adulthood as ages 7–10, not 4–6. Age alone does not establish a need for a supplement.
What does Hollywood Elixir help support?
Hollywood Elixir is La Petite Labs' supplement for dogs and cats, marketed for daily wellness support. Whether it is appropriate depends on the complete formula, your pet's diet and health, and the evidence for the intended use. This tool does not establish that a supplement will improve its result.
