Mandate

Scope

• Develop and review companion-animal supplement formulations.
• Evaluate nutrient and ingredient doses.
• Assess nutritional interactions, tolerability, and bioavailability.
• Review canine and feline physiological constraints.
• Evaluate formulation architecture rather than isolated ingredients.
• Work with manufacturers and suppliers during formulation development.
• Review raw-material specifications and ingredient documentation.
• Advise on serving size, format, solubility, texture, palatability, and administration.
• Support pilot batches and formulation troubleshooting.
• Review stability and shelf-life considerations.
• Investigate tolerability or product-performance issues.
• Build reusable internal formulation standards.
• Work with pharmacology, geroscience, clinical research, and domain specialists on new systems.

Requirements

One of the following:

• PhD in animal nutrition, companion-animal nutrition, nutritional science, or closely related discipline, or
• Veterinary specialist qualification in companion-animal nutrition with substantial formulation experience.

Plus:

• 5+ years of applied companion-animal nutrition or product-development experience.
• Direct experience formulating commercial products for dogs and/or cats.
• Strong working knowledge of canine and feline nutrient requirements and tolerances.
• Familiarity with NRC, AAFCO, FEDIAF, or equivalent nutritional frameworks.
• Experience working with commercial manufacturers.
• Understanding of ingredient specifications, stability, palatability, and practical dose constraints.
• Strong primary-literature evaluation skills.
